District Fundraising

The Webster Public Schools believes that a free, and appropriate public education should be adequately funded by federal, state, and local governments.  However, fiscal realities often result in less than adequate resources for our schools and students.

The Webster Public Schools’ School Committee recognizes and appreciates the role that fundraising can have to fill the gaps that often exist between what is needed and what is available.  The School Committee also appreciates the benefits to the district of donations of time, talent and money in support of the educational goals of the Webster Public Schools.

To that end, protocols have been developed to ensure there is an appropriate balance between the desirable outcomes of fundraising and the potential pitfalls associated with these activities.  It is the goal of the School Committee to work collaboratively with all school fundraising organizations on behalf of the students of Webster.  The protocols cover a variety of situations, however, the Committee recognizes that any policy statement will not be comprehensive and cover every possible situation.  Therefore, the Committee expects there will be occasions where specific situations will arise that may warrant individual attention from the Administration and/or School Committee.  In addition, the School Committee may amend the Fundraising Policy (JJE) or these protocols from time to time at the Committee’s sole discretion.

Approved School/District Fundraising Organizations
The Webster Public Schools recognizes that the endeavors and objectives of booster groups, Education Foundations, PTO's, and other similar groups can be a valuable means of stimulating interest in and endorsement of the aims and achievements of the Webster Public Schools.  In addition, these groups provide valuable resources, both in terms of people and funding.  Therefore, we strongly encourage these groups to be involved.  To be able to fundraise on behalf of the Webster Public Schools, groups should complete and submit an Approved School/District Fundraising Organization Application (link is above).  The Groups listed below are approved School/District Fundraising Organizations:

The District is also aware there are many fundraisers that are being run throughout the school year. Parents/Guardians and the community must not be overly burdened with excessive requests by our schools, student groups or outside support groups.  To assist with monitoring this, the School District maintains a district fundraising calendar.  This calendar is available below and is updated based on approved fundraising applications.
