Transportation Information and Bus Routes

Transportation Policy:

State statutes assign the School Committee responsibility for providing transportation services for students traveling between home and school and to approved educational programs.
 
Eligibility Requirements
Under Massachusetts General Law and DESE regulations, students in grades K–6 who reside more than two miles from the school they attend and whose nearest bus stop is more than one mile from their residence are legally entitled to transportation.
In addition to state requirements, Webster Public Schools provides transportation under the following local guidelines:
  • Grades K–4:  All students attending Park Avenue Elementary School, regardless of distance.
  • Grades 5–12:   Students residing more than 1.5 miles from their assigned school.
  • Students with Special Needs Transportation if required by an IEP or 504 plan.
Note: General education eligible riders will be issued a bus pass which must be readily available at the request of the driver.
 
Exceptions
Exceptions to these guidelines may be made at the discretion of the Superintendent, following School Committee Policy.
 

Review Timeline:  Exception requests may take up to 7 business days to review.  During the start of the school year, processing times may be extended at the start of the school year due to increased call volume.  Please see below for transportation question assistance.
