The Curriculum Office is responsible for leading and supporting the District in the area of:
CURRICULUM ~ providing educators with high-quality, research-based curriculum and resources aligned to MA Curriculum Frameworks*, and facilitating collaborative curriculum renewal cycles when and as needed.
INSTRUCTION ~ supporting the implementation of evidence-based, culturally responsive instructional strategies and the use of high-quality materials that hold high expectations for all students, so that all students (SWDs, MLLs, and GenED) do the majority of the thinking in daily lessons, increase achievement, and increase their sense of belonging.
ASSESSMENT ~ overseeing the administration of the District’s benchmark assessments and ensuring opportunities for data analysis and data cycles to inform instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ~ providing High Quality Professional Development (HQPD) that ensures coherent learning experiences that are systematic, purposeful, and structured over a sustained period of time. The goal in doing so is to improve teacher practice and student outcomes. The District administers PD Feedback Surveys after all PD sessions offered throughout the school year and during the summer months to gather feedback. The District also administers an annual WPS PD Needs Assessment Survey in the Spring to gather feedback and solicit input for the selection of future PD offerings.
