21st CCLC PASS Program

Webster Public Schools is pleased to offer 21st Century Community Learning Centers programming at the Park Avenue Elementary School for students in Kindergarten through grade 4 in the hours after school and in the summer.  Our goal is to encourage student interest in learning by making a connection to their school day through engaging curriculum and project based activities with an emphasis on academics, social emotional, and service learning in an enjoyable, comfortable and safe work space. The goals of the 21st Century Grant are: 
  • Strengthening student learning through the implementation of effective instructional practices that promote and support DESE's Vision for deeper learning .
  • Creating a learning environment that inspires meaningful, sustained student engagement through the development of a coherent and holistic range of programming that contributes to the development of mastery, identity, and creativity for students.
  • Cultivating systems that support the whole child and foster joyful, healthy, and supportive learning environments so that all students feel valued, connected and empowered to make informed choices in life and are prepared for college and careers.
  • Effectively engaging in linguistically and culturally sustaining ways, students with identities that have been historically marginalized in educational settings.
  • Using data effectively in designing programming that addresses student needs.
 
Student who qualify will be invited.
Highlights:
  • Small group instruction for students who need extra academic support
  • Hands on project-based enrichment activities
  • Free after school snack
  • Free transportation from the program with bus stops throughout the community
Activities:
  • Students participate in activities that  focus on Engagement in Learning, Self Regulation, and Relations with Peers.
  • Students practice, stay on task and become interested in new things!
  • Students gain strength in controlling their own behavior, they learn to work independently, and can remain focused on tasks.
  • Students work with others in cooperative tasks, practice compromise with their peers during activities and make friends along the way!

Over the last two years, Webster was also awarded the 21st CCLC Internship Grant to provide high schoolers interested in the education field with a summer and school year internship program that will enable them to gain valuable experience and provide additional support to our 21st Century program at PAE.
