Grades 10, 11, 12 5 Credits
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Intro to 3-Dimensional Art, with a grade of B or better, or permission of the instructor.
Ceramics I is beginner level course designed to teach students the basics of creating hand-built pottery and sculptural forms. Techniques in building, glazing, and firing will be explored through a variety of projects.
From ancient to modern, the science and history of clay will be discussed throughout the course with students researching trends in the ceramic arts.
Assessment is based upon studio performance, projects, quizzes, tests, exams, and written/oral presentations.
