The goal of the Webster Middle School Parent Teacher Organization is to support and enhance the education of the children at the Webster Middle School.  We strive to foster a spirit of cooperation and promote open communication between families and staff of the school.

Last year, our parent teacher organization spit into 2 groups to better serve the needs of the students at both Park Ave and Webster Middle School.  Since then, the Webster Middle School PTO has continued toward its goal to support and enhance the education of the children at Webster Middle School.  We continue to strive to foster a spirit of cooperation and promote open communication between families and staff of the school.

This year, we changed companies for our fall fundraiser moving from Meadowfarms Fundraising to Innisbrook Wraps and Import Designs Jewelry.  We made a profit of just over $13,000 from our sale this year.  15 students will be going out to lunch on November 30th in a Hummer Limo as a reward for their great sales.  We also held our first annual Fall Festival back in October.  We invited non-profit organizations from all 3 public schools to participate along with inviting local vendors and crafters to set up and sell their wares.  Overall, the day was a great experience for us and we are looking forward to next year.

We also just opened the doors to our fall Scholastic Book Fair themed Book Fair Blizzard.  Along with getting great books into the hands of our students, we are also promoting the One for Books program.  Money raised from the One for books program not only helps put books in our library and into the hands of students who cannot afford to purchase them on their own, Scholastic also matches all monetary donations with a donation of up to one million books to three non-profit organizations dedicated to helping kids and families in need.  They include Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., National Center for Family Literacy and Toys for Tots.  Last year, our students donated $86.00. This year, so far, they have donated $120.00.  We are proud of our students and their continued generosity.

Our other events currently scheduled include Webster Middle School night at the Worcester Sharks on December 8th, where one of our students will have the honor of singing the National Anthem before the game!

Our annual holiday shop is set to take place December 10th- 10th with special Saturday event on the 15th in conjunction with SEPAC.  It’s a day that will be filled with something for everyone, including shopping, crafts, and pictures with Frosty the Snowman!  We have also secured another night at the Worcester Sharks in March, along with plans for a family dinner dance sometime this winter, another book fair in April, a day at the ball park with the Worcester Tornados, and in coordination with the Webster Middle School Literacy Team, a visit from author Ralph Masiello (pending grant approval) in February.  Lastly, the PTO is establishing a fund to enable one students in 5th grade to attend Nature’s Classroom.  The proceeds to determine the qualifications of the scholarship recipient is still under discussion.

In 2008 we have much more in store!  Keep watching for our monthly newsletter as well as checking this website for more information.
